About
I am a chemical biologist working at the interface of enzymology, assay development, and drug discovery. My research and industry experience have focused on developing biochemical and cellular assays, characterizing enzyme function, and advancing small-molecule discovery programs through screening, chemical probe development, and inhibitor characterization. I am currently a Scientist at Akttyva Therapeutics, where I design and execute screening workflows to identify enzyme binders, inhibitors, and activators, while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to translate experimental and computational insights into discovery strategies. Beyond the lab, I am an active science communicator and mentor. I volunteer with Skype a Scientist to share the drug discovery process with classrooms nationwide and enjoy helping students and early-career scientists explore paths in biomedical research. I am passionate about translating scientific discoveries into therapeutic solutions and connecting with professionals across biotech and pharma who are working to make a real-world impact. I have experience in high-throughput screening, enzyme activity and binding assays, cell-based assays, and structure-guided design, in addition to a wide range of biochemical and molecular biology techniques.

My undergraduate research focused on learning about how two amino acid point mutations in DNA methyltransferase I (DNMT1) impacted the structure and function of the enzyme. I used site-directed mutagenesis, protein expression, and protein purification to produce the mutated and wild-type DNMT1 proteins. To characterize the effects of these mutations, I employed electrophoretic mobility shift assays, plate-reader kinetics assays, and melting point assays. This research culminated in my undergraduate honors thesis and a publication in Biochemistry.
