Shortly after graduating from Macalester, I had the wonderful opportunity to teach English through Teaching Assistant Program in France. In two primary schools in Angers, France, I led and assisted English language and cultural lessons for more than 150 elementary school students. I reinforced lessons by way of creative and amusing enrichment activities, and assisted full-time teachers in improving English curriculum.

At Nova, my responsibilities ranged from 1:1 student support to supervision of 150+ students at a time. I developed trusting, friendly relationships with my students, my colleagues, and parents in the school community. Day to day, I provided classroom inclusion support for K-8th grade IEP and 504 students, which included tutoring students in core subject matter and Latin and administering modified testing. I supported classroom teachers with organization and management projects. I supervised groups of 150+ students at recess, determined safety concerns, and collaborated with teachers and administrators to ensure safety. I also supervised logistics of daily pick up and drop off, responding to weather and traffic patterns and communicating with school administration and families.
