Professors Jin Zhang and Susan Taylor groups • Characterized protein kinase A RIβ phase separation in mammalian cells and in minimal reconstitution systems • Expressed genetically encoded biosensors in mammalian cells to quantify the impact of PKA RIβ liquid-liquid phase separation on the spatiotemporal regulation of protein kinase A signaling • Evaluated and developed a model of how neurological disease mutations affect RIβ phase separation and cell signaling • Utilized fluorescence recovery after photobleaching (FRAP) to quantify the apparent diffusion and exchange of RIα in wild-type and mutant phase separated system
