Emily Pepper

During my two-week placement at Firecracker Films, I worked closely with the development team, brainstorming ideas for new TV programs and assisting with research for ongoing projects. I supported various team members with office tasks, including tracking down parcels and sourcing props needed for filming. When the production assistant was away, I took on the responsibility of answering and transferring phone calls to ensure smooth communication across the office.

While at True North, I was responsible for researching various projects scheduled for filming later in the year. I also logged video footage and transcribed interviews to support the editing process. I eagerly took on every task offered to me, ensuring I gained the most from my work experience placement.

Within University, I learned how to write news stories for TV as well as radio and these were put into practice in our 2nd year (Planet Radio) and final year modules (Multi-Platform Newsroom). We were taught how to use a TV and radio studio correctly, as well as AVID editing software, which I used a lot in my final year practical project module.
