I am responsible for facilitating a weekly session of 6-8 students. Sessions correspond to a specific course and last approximately two hours. Participants work through a packet of problems designed to help them learn the material presented in class throughout the week. It is my job to facilitate active participation and teamwork, and also to help with any questions on concepts they may have.

The Syracuse Industrial Assessment Center is a Department of Energy funded program that consists of mostly undergraduate engineers and a graduate lead student. We visit manufacturing facilities all over New York State to give them energy audits. We begin with a morning meeting with a plant manager, then continue onto their manufacturing area to take non-intrusive measurements of various systems like lighting, boilers, air compressors, ventilation, etc. Using these measurements, one lead student, different for every site visit, analyzes the data and comes up with various assessment recommendations to suggest to the company. Approximately two months later, an intensive report including calculations of simple payback is sent to the company so they may implement what they feel they should.

I spent spring of 2016 in Ireland participating in Syracuse's study abroad program.
