The mission of Horizons-Upward Bound is to prepare students from the Detroit Metropolitan area with limited opportunities to enter and succeed in post-secondary education. For six weeks in the summer of 2013 I was privileged to design and implement my own ACT prep curriculum for about 35 students entering their junior year of high school. During the school year, we meet weekly to hone and maintain the skills they developed over the summer.

* Duties included: * Creating curriculum plans * Creating communication plans * Developing communications * Documenting job content * Developing training programs – instructor-led, e-learning, web-based, etc. * Facilitating meetings * Conducting research * Developing and managing work plans * Managing client relationships * Evaluating change interventions * Attending lectures and completing assigned projects

Challenge Detroit is an urban revitalization project for one of the most significant cities in the world. The program invites 30 individuals of various intellects and backgrounds from our own backyard and across the world to come together to live, work, play, give, and lead in Detroit by uniting with area companies, non-profits, and cultural institutions. Participants work with a leading regional company four days a week. On the fifth day Challenge Detroit engages in the community through team challenges, in partnership with area non-profits, designed to positively impact the city and region. By uniting a group of innovative, entrepreneurial thinkers, Challenge Detroit takes a significant step toward energizing our city's creative and professional core. The goals of Challenge Detroit are simple but ambitious. By bringing tomorrow's leaders together to experience Detroit for a year, we will jump start a very important initiative: to attract and retain a creative and professional class in the city.
