Physical cable products for use in all industries requiring power & data comms via physical media. In relation to design, ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions as well as interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Use of verbal and written communication skills as well as reading, analyzing, and interpreting general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations. Broadcast Systems Engineer

Primarily responsible for the installation, system integration & technical support of DIRECTV CONUS broadcast & support of broadcast systems. Equipment included MPEG2 & MPEG4 video encoders, broadcast & mobile XCODERS, software encoders, statistical multiplexers, rate shapers, DVB scramblers, VOD, storage encoding as well as configuration of Cisco routers/switches used in the integration process. Primary job has been on deployment, configuration, integration and technical support of all DIRECTV systems. Other areas of focus are integration with vendors as well as some project management including quotes, organizing meetings and tracking project issues. Perform variety of complicated tasks related to project turn-up and completion. Deal with lower layers (OSI model) in regards to broadcasting with machines, networks, operating systems, and applications required providing the broadcast product to customers. Operations takes over day to day functions once I hand over a project with continued support provided. Completed first directed AD’ project (HD & SD launched) as well as non-linear projects to deliver content to Mobile and Internet DIRECTV consumers. Launched and planned projects supporting the HD expansions to deliver HD content for DIRECTV customers for US and Latin America regions. Completed Puerto Rico system build to deliver services via DIRECTV SAT’ to Puerto Rico. Demonstrated problem-solving ability and strong people skills by successfully bringing together operators and technicians in regards to system turn-up, support and maintenance. Other duties involve Technical services support for on-air services, new service turn-ups, infrastructure changes for new or legacy systems and services, upgrades for system components, troubleshooting system issues, as-built drawing updates & changes, LAN/WAN Telco support, technician training, project lead, engineering & vendor contacts for new system installations, changes or revisions.

Support duties were to update and maintain all circuit documentation for MSO’s (Cell-site, SS& links, OCn links, etc.), plan and implement projects for adds, moves, changes and upgrades. Also served as equipment engineer for all hardware installations and vendor point of contact for OCn, inter-office & circuit adds, cut-overs or decommissions. Received team recognition for the Las Vegas MSO cutover to Irvine office and the Long Beach MSO turn-up. Project lead to migrate off all M13 multiplexers with SS7 services to TITAN5500 & 532L DAC’s. Recognition for updating all circuit documentation for all intra & inter-office links.

Lead Switch Technician
COMMERCE CALIFORNIA
Lead switch technician (24x7 work environment) for PageNet at the Network Operating Center for Western Region in Commerce, CA. Main duties included installation, upgrades, etc. of all switching equipment and their interfaces, as well as maintaining high availability for over 2 million processed calls daily. Project lead for all switch maintenance during maintenance window. Technician trainer for new hires in Telecom system fundamentals related to the job and SOP author. Team recognition for cut-over of all remote switching centers (7 total) from Anaheim, Woodland Hills, Las Vegas, Seattle, Portland, Anchorage & Phoenix. Recognition award for quick turn-up of transmitter sites when Hughes satellite went down with company utilizing other satellite transponders from Hughes. Started as pager bench tech and progressed to Lead switching technician.

US NAVY Data Systems Technician (E-4) SIMA (Ship Intermediate Maintenance Activity) US NAVY data systems technician. UYK-7 combat computer technician and digital radar display systems for FFG-7 UYA-4 digital display system manufactured by Hughes Aircraft. Served as calibration technician for Electronics Technician shop servicing and calibrating various types of test equipment (Multi-meters, O’scopes, up to Spectrum Analyzers). Commendation award received for support work to assist vessel movement for Gulf War. Helped calibrated over 600 test gear in 2 weeks. Implemented, test & turn-up of new digital display systems for USS Gary & USS Reasoner. Demonstrated technical abilities and administrative skills by managing the installation and testing of Electronic Command and Control systems onboard FFG-7 ships. Demonstrated problem-solving ability and strong people skills by successfully bringing together operators and technicians during system integration, commission and testing. Responsible for the installation, testing, and maintenance of Radar display systems on shipboard. Providing timely, accurate information flow to customers. Honorably discharged.
