Elisabeth Rosén

I worked extra as a Sales Advisor for H&M - at Burlöv Center along side of my studies. The position provided work experience from the checkout counter, but also from fashion and clothes, by taking care of the fitting rooms, deliveries and making the store look inviting. My job also consisted of being available for costumers, by finding the item they seek or giving personal taste advice. The job was great for learning about the retail industry and about service. It was also very fun to work at H&M and at the same time the job provided personal growth.

I worked as a salesperson for a Danish chain store that offers a wide selection of different products, mainly in the categories for home interior, kitchen supplies and toys. My job description was to work at the cash register, but also unpack delivires and make the store look presentable. I also had my own areas in the store that I was responsible for. My responsibilities ranged from ordering out-of-stock items, restocking shelves, to setting up displays. It required a fast pace-mindset and I got to be familiar with customer interactions. I started working at Flying Tiger Copenhagen when the store first opened in my hometown Ystad, then I started working at the store in Malmö and at Emporia, and finally the remainder of my years was spent working at the store in Lund.

The aim of the course was to gain general and current knowledge and understanding of the research areas, theories, concepts and analysis methods of Media and Communication Studies. I also learned critical awareness and an ability to reflect on media and communication issues in society for organisations and individuals, and knowledge of how to analyse simple media and communication issues.

I have graduated from Lund University with a Bachelors degree in Service Management Retail. I have studied about organizations, economics, marketing and leadership. The retail area of my education gave me an edge in organizing, leading and developing companies and organizations within the retail industry. The retail courses provided knowledge about physical stores, but also about logistics, store localization and business relations within the industry.
