Dealing with any correspondence with regards to the Area Office. Deciding priority schemes and the allocation of funds to each scheme Representing the Area Office at a variety of meetings – A.N.O meetings, A.N.O/D.L.O Meeting, Area Committee Meetings, and Community Council Meetings etc. Liaison with Councillors, Council Officials, Members of the Public and Council Contractors Continually measuring the performance of the Tweeddale Area Office Ensuring the Health and Safety of any works carried out by contractors working on schemes issued by the Tweeddale Office.

The job involved: The design and scheme management of various projects including drainage schemes, surfacing schemes, footpath works and wall repair. Preparing Tender Documents for Schemes being put out to external Contractors. Compiling lists of priority schemes. Applying for Official Road Closures via the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. Dealing with Roads Authority duties through the Roads (Scotland) Act 1984. Liaising with Members of the Public regarding Council Services.

I left the company to return to full time Education.

Oct. 1997 to Jun. 1999 Herriot-Watt University. Merchison. Edinburgh F/T BEng student 2 years I started the BEng. Civil Engineering Degree Course at Herriot-Watt University on a full time basis. Due to financial difficulties, I decided to take a Gap Year during which I started working for Scottish Borders Council as the Area Technician for Tweeddale.
