The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow (RCPSG) is the only multidisciplinary Royal College in the UK and has a membership of over 10,000 physicians, surgeons, dental professionals, specialists in the field of travel medicine and podiatric medicine across the UK and worldwide. This was a temporary position based in the Education department to assist with all educational events.

Glasgow 2014 Ltd was the official name for the Organising Committee (OC) of the XX Commonwealth Games. I was originally employed as Commonwealth Games Association (CGA) Administrator within the Games Family Relations and Protocol department before progressing into the role of CGA Services Coordinator in January 2014. I have been involved in the planning and organisation of several pre-Games events such as Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) Coordination Commission visits, the CGF General Assembly in August 2013, and the Chefs de Mission Seminar in January 2014.

The Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP), one of the foremost primary care organisations in the UK, is a membership body of family doctors committed to delivering excellence in general practice and primary care. Based in the Faculty with the largest membership in Scotland - the West of Scotland Faculty - I was responsible for managing the busy educational events programme which involved the production of all events from conception through to completion. I undertook all administrative activities, including the use of SAGE 200, and income generation relating to a number of educational events. This also involved the production of marketing communications, such as the Faculty newsletter, event flyers and bulk e-mail communications, which were then distributed to around 2000 members based in the West of Scotland.

Melville Exhibition and Event Services Ltd provide a wide range of event services such as exhibiton stand design and build, electrical installations and furniture hire. I was hired by the Glasgow office on a temporary basis to provide administrative support and customer service for a wide range of exhibitions, mainly taking place at the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre (SECC), such as The Scottish Baby Show and the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) 2010 Conference. My role involved processing of all electrical, furniture and shell scheme orders, ensuring these were accurate and processed on schedule, as well as providing client support during exhibition setup to ensure the smooth operation of all events.

GAME are one of Europe’s leading specialist PC and video games retailers. Originally employed as a Sales Assistant, in October 2008 I progressed into the role of Senior Sales Assistant - essentially a Supervisory position - and successfully completed the in-house Management Entry Level Programme (MELP). Mainly based in the Braehead store which at the time was GAME's number one sales team in UK, however, I also spent around 4 months as Senior Sales Assistant of the Clydebank store. As part of this position I held primary responsibility for training of 28 members of staff in the company training programme, Excellence in Practice (EiP), which covers a wide range of subjects such as Customer Service and Health and Safety. Other responsibilities included the opening and secure closing of store, including cashing up of tills, and ensuring store standards are upheld at all times, taking into consideration commercial awareness.

While studying for my HND in Events Management I carried out work experience with 1-2-1 Events working in a small events team, mainly focussed on the co-ordination of logistics for Scottish Enterprise’s Encouraging Dynamic Global Entrepreneurs (EDGE) Programme. During this time EDGE was an eight week international entrepreneurial programme which ran over the course of Summer 2007.

SK:N Clinics are a national company specialising in medical treatments of the skin. My role involved carrying out various administrative tasks such as filing, database management, processing payments and dealing with customers both over the phone and on the shop floor. I also assisted with the setting up of the current clinic based on Gordon Street (in Glasgow) from its previous location at the Southern General Hospital.
