Edgar Ma

I am a Condensed Matter Physics PhD student at McGill University working at Gervais Lab. I completed my undergraduate studies at the University of Toronto, graduating with an HBSc degree in the Mathematics and Physics Specialist and Chemistry Minor programs. My research is driven by how collective quantum behavior can give rise to exotic emergent phenomena, from superconductivity to topological insulators. What especially draws me to this field is the deep connection between fundamental physics and modern technology - the same physics behind these effects also underpins today’s electronics and tomorrow’s energy and quantum devices. I am especially interested in quantum materials and low-dimensional systems, and in projects that connect fundamental understanding with experimental realization and applications. Open to new ideas and collaborations - whether in physics, materials science, or beyond.
