Mission: At Covenant House Georgia (CHGA), we are much more than a shelter. We provide more than a bed and a meal for youth experiencing homelessness and escaping trafficking; we show unconditional love and give comprehensive support so that our youth can and will realize their fullest potential. MSW Generalist Internship ● Provide academic support to over 10 young adults at Covenant House Georgia by connecting them to academic resources such as online GED programs and college search databases ● Manage a caseload of four youth when needed ● Rotate across program within the Support Services department supporting case managers to improve client outcomes ● Collaborated with a case manager to teach a client about academic citation and APA formatting ● Assisted with planning and coordination of annual fundraiser to raise awareness about human sex trafficking and homeless youth in Atlanta ● Attend weekly case management meetings to stay up to date on clients ● Input client touchpoints in our case management system within two business days after meeting client

My site in the Peace Corps is on the beautiful island of Vanua Levu. More commonly referred to as the "Friendly North" by the local Fijans. The core element of the Community Youth Empowerment framework is that PCVs serve their local schools and villages\communities simultaneously with the main goal of empowering the youth to make better life decisions.
