Health And Safety Advisor
Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
As a Health and Safety Advisor with Coleman Rail, I worked on the Southern Program Alliance, a Joint Venture with Lendlease, Acciona, and Metro Trains. This project is part of the Victorian Government's Level Crossing Removal Project, aimed at removing 75 dangerous level crossings by 2025. Ensured health and safety compliance for all project activities. Collaborated with Alliance partners to deliver key project packages. Oversaw the removal of level crossings at Mascot Avenue, Bonbeach; Station Street and Eel Race Road, Carrum; and Seaford Road, Seaford. Managed the extension of McLeod Road in Carrum and the construction of a new road bridge across the Patterson River. Facilitated the relocation of the Carrum train storage facility to Kananook and the rebuilding of Carrum Station. Supervised the removal of level crossings at Balcombe Road, Mentone, and Charman and Park Roads, Cheltenham. Directed the lowering of the rail line into trenches for new Cheltenham and Mentone stations. Ensured the restoration of heritage-listed buildings at Cheltenham and Mentone. Supported the construction of a third track at Cheltenham Station for increased train services. Promoted the creation of walking and cycling paths connecting the stations. Project Highlights: Improved safety and traffic flow by removing dangerous level crossings. Enhanced public transport facilities and created new community spaces. Promoted active transportation through walking and cycling paths. Challenges and Solutions: Implemented safety protocols and regular training to mitigate risks. Maintained effective communication among stakeholders. Balanced modern infrastructure development with heritage preservation. Personal Reflections: Working on the Southern Program Alliance was a rewarding experience. It provided an opportunity to contribute to a significant infrastructure project and grow professionally. I am proud to have been part of this initiative, benefiting Melbourne for generations to come.
