Dylan Davies

Heritage Saint-Bernard is a non-profit environmental organization that works to promote environmental education and protection. The organization manages several protected areas and parks in Montreal's South Shore, including the Refuge Faunique Marguerite-D'Youville and the Centre Ecologique Fernand Seguin. My job as a naturalist is to lead outdoor environmental activities, guided nature walks and other activities that contribute to the organization's goal of increasing public awareness of wildlife and environmental protection.

I work with several teachers in Dawson College's Outdoor Education Department as a Teaching Assistant. I assist with a variety of outdoor courses, including hiking, cross-country skiing and camping. My responsibilities include helping students perfect the various techniques and skills taught, managing small groups of students during day trips and assisting the teacher with preparations and organization.

I completed an internship with the Dawson Rooftop Gardens project, an initiative that aims to transform unused space within the campus into food-producing systems. Task included: building planters, planting, weeding, harvesting, cleaning and processing, selling produce, fundraising, etc.

I was an intern for the project ‘Sustainable Campuses: Sharing our Knowledge for Social and Environmental Sustainability’. The project was a partnership between Dawson College and four Mexican universities. I spent a month at a Mexican University learning, sharing and working towards sustainability.

I was an alpine ski instructor for beginner skiers with the YMCA Ski School. Over the course of 8 weeks, I taught a group of children how to ski.
