Dylan Boylan
Software Engineer @ Ericsson
About
As a Unity Developer and Software Designer, I have a passion for creating immersive and interactive experiences. I have gained valuable experience in working with civil engineers and other college students to build a real-life village in the Unity engine, utilizing VR to enhance immersion. I also have hands-on experience with various software design roles, including web design and SEO, which sparked my interest in pursuing a degree in Software Design with VR and Gaming. I am currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Computer Software Engineering at Technological University of the Shannon, Athlone Campus, where I am learning the fundamentals of software engineering and applying them to real-world projects. My skills include Java, software infrastructure, and web engineering. I am always eager to learn new technologies and collaborate with others to create innovative solutions.

Software Engineer
Athlone, Ireland
As an intern at Ericsson, I will be joining a production development team, contributing directly to software that will be deployed and released in real-world environments. My goal is to learn as much as possible while actively providing value to the team—through hands-on involvement in the full software development lifecycle, from coding and testing to deployment and monitoring. This internship is a unique opportunity to gain practical experience with industry-standard tools and technologies, collaborate with experienced engineers, and make a tangible impact on the software created by the team.

Unity Developer
Athlone, County Roscommon, Ireland
This internship was for my 3rd year work placement in college. I had the opportunity to work with civil engineers and other college students to build a real life village in the Unity engine. We also took it a step further and utilized VR to add more immersion to the project. During the project we continuously met with the people in charge of the project and showed them weekly updates of our work and eventually when we had finished the project, we demonstrated it to the rest of the residents of the village, many of whom were blown away by the end result. I learned plenty about working with a team and also lots about optimization, coding and general usage of Unity.

Software Designer
Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland
This internship was during my secondary school years, I learned plenty about different jobs in the software sector and I was lucky enough to get hands on experience with a lot of the work being done. Some of the jobs I learned about ranged from Web Design to SEO. It was here that I discovered that I want to do something software related, which is why I chose to do Software Design with VR and gaming in university.
