Responsible tourism is a global challenge. TourCert (www.tourcert.org), the non-profit certification company, recognized internationally awards the TourCert label for sustainability and corporate social responsibility (CSR) in tourism. CSR stands for Corporate Social Responsibility. CSR refers to the responsibility of companies for their impact on society and the environment. The companies must fulfill social and ecological requirements in their core business, over and above any legal obligations. CSR is not about single good deeds, but the deep-seated positioning and strategic orientation of the company as a whole. With the TourCert label, tourism companies are making a clear commitment to their responsibility for sustainable tourism. They are also committing to continually improving their sustainability services. The TourCert label is awarded in different sectors. Specific requirements and criteria for certification are valid for tour operators, travel agencies, tourism destinations and accommodation providers respectively.

Based in Los Angeles, California and with different international preferred partners, it provides certification for the sustainable operations and management of travel and tourism companies and their related supplier businesses. Green Globe maintains a global network of independent auditors who provide autonomous third party inspection and validation, but also professional consulting. The auditors are experts in the field of sustainability and are able to assist during certification, including implementation of policies, staff training and local advice on meeting the Green Globe Standard. In addition the auditors are licensed to audit in accordance with ISO rules and regulations.
