As an occupational therapist I help children with different needs birth to 18 years old to improve physical, social, and emotional function through the use of occupations. Occupations are defined as meaningful activities, and for children that is play! I hold specialty certifications for sensory integration and feeding, and additionally provide vision based treatment to assist with ocular motor skill development. Occupational therapy helps children with different needs to develop the underlying skills necessary for learning and performing specific tasks, including self-care, play skills, social and behavioral skills. Independence and skill development lead to a positive self-concept and confidence.
