Senior Scientist and Associate Director @ CAGE Bio Inc.

About

Problem-solving biomedical researcher with a strong background in analytical biochemistry/molecular genetics and a proven track record of research success, including 20+ peer-reviewed scientific publications, a patent, and data used for funded grants. I have experience managing multiple complex research projects simultaneously, resulting from extensive technical expertise, high-level data analysis and decision making, and a passion for learning and discovery. I am also an effective and confident science communicator, both oral and written, in translating complex scientific data/ideas to simple and accessible concepts for audiences of scientific and non-scientific backgrounds. Outside of research, I am a coffee enthusiast, enjoy homebrewing beer, playing golf, working out at Orange Theory, and spending time with my family/golden retriever

Helen Hobbs and Jonathan Cohen Laboratory, Department of Molecular Genetics. • Discovered a critical genetic and drug interaction that improves liver transplant short term survival rates by greater than 20% in affected individuals. This discovery will lead to the implementation of new genetic liver transplant protocols. • Primary researcher managing a major aim of a $2.5 million research grant focused on discovering novel insights and developing new molecular/genetic strategies and drug targets for the treatment of chronic liver disease. • Served as an analytical lipid mass spectrometry consultant for the Periodic Table of Foods Initiative (PTFI), an international consortium seeking to analyze the oil/fat composition of all consumable foods. Consolation successfully aided in securing a research collaboration and funding between the PTFI and UTSW. • Established HPLC/mass spectrometry analytical methods for the analysis of metabolites implicated in the protection from developing non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. • Developed in-vivo and cell-based assays and mass spectrometry methods to track drug metabolism and test gene and drug interactions. • Awarded T32 training grant in metabolism from 2019-2022, due to continued research productivity and results.
