I am a Principal at Schwegman Lundberg & Woessner where I provide consulting services on complex patent related matters. I joined SLW after spending almost 28 years at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. I started my career at the USPTO as a patent examiner in 1994, and held a variety of roles including Commissioner for Patents, for which I was appointed in 2015, and then appointed to a second term in 2020. Prior to leaving the USPTO, I performed the functions and duties of the Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property and Director of the USPTO, where I was responsible for approximately 13,000 employees and an annual budget of approximately $4 billion.
