•Effective implementation of the research policies, programs, and initiatives recommended by the University from time to time and develop research policies, programs, and initiatives specific to the SoCS •Assessing the quality of research undertaken in various academic programs and suggesting measures to improve •Oversee the overall development and management of research infrastructure and resources, planning and development of the Centers of Excellence •Ensuring compliance with ethical standards and adherence to the University’s and regulatory bodies’ policies/guidelines •Assessing the impact of research: Publications and their quality metrics; citations; individual h-index; h-index of the School; and measures to improve (individualized plans) •Performance management and evaluation of research KRAs & KPIs of all faculty •Facilitating the faculty members for acquiring /grants from various funding agencies •Facilitating the faculty for research collaboration (national/international) with academic institutes and industry; joint research projects; consultancy projects •Identifying the emerging/thrust areas of research, interdisciplinary collaboration, and innovation opportunities in line with institutional goals •Facilitating the faculty to choose the right platforms (conferences/workshops/journals) to communicate/present their research outcomes • Leading and facilitating the organization of research conferences/workshops/symposiums in the identified areas.

During my tenure as the Dean of Research, I have made significant contributions to establishing a research and innovation framework at the university, which was almost non-existent before I took over in 2018. Some of the notable achievements include establishing the University Research Board, developing customized policies for research, consultancy, and innovation, and initiating the Seed Grant Scheme for faculty members to start their research activities. Additionally, I conceptualized and implemented the Research Outcome Reward Policy for researchers working in the university, as well as the Conference Travel Grant Scheme for faculty members. I also got recognized the University Incubation Centre as an MSME Host institute and opened it up to students, faculty, and entrepreneurs of the university and nearby regions for idea generation, incubation, and commercialization through grant incubation and startup grants from the MSME. Moreover, I suggested including research and innovation components in the curricula of various degree programs to target overall research outcomes. During my tenure, I restructured the PhD programs to make them robust, outcome-oriented, and in line with UGC's regulations. I established the Centre of Excellence in Sustainable Energy Studies, the Central Instrumentation Facility and the Directorate of Research to facilitate students and faculty members in their research and innovation endeavours. Additionally, I initiated consultancy projects by identifying faculty groups and facilitating interaction with relevant industry partners. To enhance the quality of research, I provided/arranged training to faculty members and students on various aspects of sponsored project proposal writing, consultancy project proposal writing, and quality research paper writing. My focus on high-impact and quality research in the university resulted in an h-index of 25 with more than 3000 citations and 1.2 papers per faculty per year during my tenure.

•Initiated a PhD program (the first in the university with JRFs) and developed and run an MSc by research. •Established a research lab in computational and interdisciplinary physics under three SERB-DST, GoI projects •Department contributed 60% of the total SCI and 30% of the total publications of the university, resulting in the departmental h-index rising to 19 and the i-index rising to 32, earning national recognition in Nonlinear Dynamics & Chaos Theory and Atomic & Molecular Physics based on high-impact research. •PG students underwent summer training at IUAC, New Delhi and IPR Gandhinagar with full stipend, while PhD scholars received International Travel Grants from DST and universities/institutions abroad. •Organized Expert Panel Meetings & Group Monitoring Workshops for the DST FAST TRACK PROJECTS and DST INSPIRE Internship Science Camps (5 Times) at the university. •Faculty members received JSPS Long Term Invitational Fellowship, IUSSTF Professorship Award in Physics, Visiting Professorships at Sophia University, Tokyo, Japan and AMSS, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing, CHINA. •Faculty Members served as Associate Editors in three SCI/SCOPUS-indexed journals and Reviewers of more than 45 SCI journals. •Faculty members travelled to JAPAN, SWEDEN, USA, SOUTH KOREA, CHINA, BRAZIL, SWITZERLAND, FRANCE, POLAND, UK, NEPAL, GERMANY, GREECE, CANADA with more than 45 travel grants from DST, CSIR, CCSTDS, INSA, NBHM, and inst/univs abroad like Cambridge, Harvard, MIT and Intl. Unions/Councils like (IMU, ICIAM, ICPEAC, Gordon Research, Nature Group, Max Planck) etc. •PhD alumni are serving as Dean, Registrar, and HoD, and have worked as post-docs in the USA. •Faculty members have been elected fellows of IETE of India, ELA, UC Berkley, and senior members of IEEE and affiliated societies. •Faculty members served at key positions/heads of committees like COE, DEAN RESEARCH, ANNUAL REPORT, INSPIRE, NAAC-SSR, IQAC, NIRF, Academic Council, BoS, etc.
