With over 28 years of experience in academia, including roles as a department Head and Dean (Academics), I have honed my expertise in leadership and management within educational institutions. My academic journey includes earning a PhD in engineering from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, along with Bachelor's and Master's degrees from esteemed Indian universities. Throughout my career, I have been dedicated to providing mentorship and supervision to both students and staff, cultivating a positive learning environment. My extensive teaching experience spans over 27 years, during which I have guided students in real-world applications development and played a pivotal role in establishing specialized labs in Machine learning, AI, Deep learning, Data Analytics, IoT, and Cybersecurity. As a department Head, I have been instrumental in ensuring the effective functioning of the department, including the development of curricula aligned with industry standards and the maintenance of well-equipped laboratories. Additionally, I have successfully secured research grants to support various R&D activities. My contributions extend beyond academia, as evidenced by my authorship of numerous articles in prestigious journals and conferences, focusing on Wireless Sensor Networks, IoT, Data Science, Cybersecurity, and Machine Learning. Furthermore, I have actively undertaken various administrative responsibilities, including coordinating accreditation processes, managing rankings and surveys, facilitating skill training programs, and organizing institutional events.
