Subash Cipy

I,Dr. Subash Cipy am a chemical engineer turned scientist who founded the company, Cipy Polyurethanes in 1976 which produced the first polyurethane coating of India. I completed my chemical engineering in the year 1975 from Trichur Engineering College, Kerala. I made my way to Pune in the same year in pursuit of a job. I attended many interviews for almost a year. But to my bad luck, I found no success in my job hunt and began to feel the frustration of abject rejection. Eventually I made up my mind to start my own company and thus I started out as a green horn engineer with no industrial experience and no business inheritance. I started my nano venture on the 23rd of October 1976 from a humble 600 sq ft rented tin shed, with a borrowed capital of just Rs.10, 000. And in the year 1985, I formulated the first floor coating of the country which revolutionized Indian industrial floors to impart aesthetics and protection to concrete floors. Since then, Cipy ventured into many innovative products with ‘the first time in India’ tags such as PU-concrete, polyurea, PU-sealants, EPU flooring, etc. I was honored by Doctor’s degree for my relentless research in polymer chemistry in 2012. Today, Cipy is the country’s Numero Uno in floor coatings with over 1 billion sq meters of flooring installed in industries.
