Dr. Sayed Abdul Majid Gilani (PhD, SFHEA, CMgr MCMI, CMBE)

I am acting as a Programme Leader for an undergraduate business management course. In the role I ensure practice based learning for students through industry engagement. I contribute to the university's research through undertaking research in areas like Business Incubators, Machine Learning, Rural Entrepreneurship and Gamification.

In this role, I have taught entrepreneurship and creative industries modules to students from various disciplines and cultural backgrounds. The role has allowed me to gain an understanding of teaching practice and curriculum development based on a North American education system. In the role I have been involved in various committees, execution of events and industry engagement on courses to ensure an enhanced experience for students while ensuring their seamless transition into industry after graduation.

In this role, I held the role of Programme Leader for the CMI programme where numerous administration and academic staff worked under my supervision. I was also involved in the delivery of MBA and DBA level modules and project supervision. I was also involved in the organisation and execution of international events involving academics and industry professionals from around the world.

I worked as a Module Leader for MBA and BA Business Management programmes. My teaching involved research led learning, innovative methods and engaging industry, eg bringing in industry based guest speakers and securing internships. During the role I published 2 Q2 papers.

In the role I facilitate learning in tutorials where I am also supervising undergraduate dissertations.

In the role I work as an Assistant Editor involving potential publications at the Research centre in the London School of Science and Technology.

In the role I introduced different business areas to students entering university education from various colleges.

I supported the development of undergraduate students' dissertation writing until the final submission of their dissertation project where I also marked and provided feedback on the project.

In the role I taught small to large groups where I also marked and provided feedback for assignments.

This doctorate offers an insight into teaching philosophies in a practice and theory based context.

In this course I am developing my understanding of teaching at Higher education level.
