Dr. Owada Rose

I am on a mission to transform veterinary public health systems in Africa, starting with regulation that works, data that informs action, and policies that protect both animal and human health, and the environment. With a background in clinical veterinary medicine and over a decade of experience, I now lead regulatory compliance and antimicrobial stewardship efforts at the Veterinary Medicines Directorate (Kenya). From designing internal antimicrobial tracking system (IPN) to coordinating import/export oversight and AMU reporting, my work lies at the heart of policy implementation and health system resilience. Currently pursuing a Master’s in One Health and Emergency Research (MOHERE), I’m building capacity to lead cross-sector responses to zoonoses and public health threats. I’ve sharpened my leadership and coordination skills through programs like ProgRESSVet East Africa, and I am deeply committed to building regulatory systems that are inclusive, transparent, and future-ready. My professional vision is clear: to be at the forefront of One Health policy, shaping equitable and effective frameworks for veterinary medicine across the continent. I thrive in spaces that value collaboration, evidence, and innovation, and I’m always seeking opportunities to grow and contribute.
