About

Marius Beul is a robotics enthusiast and a drone expert par excellence. As a teenager, he started tinkering with tech, and he never let go. After high school, he made his passion his profession and started a three-year practical training as a mechatronic where he learned machining and electrical work. Being not satisfied with the depth of understanding, he subsequently studied electrical engineering with a focus on automation and was awarded a bachelor of engineering with a final grade of 1.3 and a master of science in automation with a final grade of 1.4. Both of his theses covered modeling and control of complex robotic systems. Increasingly interested in control theory and still hungry for knowledge, Marius started his PhD research in 2013 where he researched time-optimal trajectory generation and control of drones at the University of Bonn. During his time in Bonn, he extensively worked on drone projects like InventAIRy, EuRoC, and A-DRZ. He also led teams and won various prestigious robotics competitions such as the MBZIRC 2017 and 2020. In August 2021, Marius joined Energy Robotics as Head of Drone Program. Together with the amazing team, he takes care that ERs robots not only drive and walk but also fly.
