About

As Vice-President of Student Affairs at St. James the Elder University, I have dedicated over five years to advancing a unique master's-to-doctoral program specializing in trauma treatment. My work focuses on supporting our team and students in developing critical skills to provide inner healing for individuals grappling with the effects of physical, emotional, or sexual abuse. This role aligns with my mission to foster compassionate care and address the root causes of trauma. My professional journey spans over nine years as a psychotherapist and pastoral counselor, committed to offering healing and support to diverse communities worldwide. Guided by principles of executive leadership, mediation, and diplomacy, I am passionate about empowering individuals and contributing to their personal growth and well-being.

I am working with a dedicated team to further develop St. James the Elder University's unique Master to Doctoral program specializing in the treatment of trauma. Over 60% of those who need counseling have a root issue of physical, emotional, and or sexual abuse. We are teaching students to help come alongside those experiencing any form of trauma to listen and help in their inner healing through that darkness. If I can play some role in helping to develop those who will commit to this kind of work, I will feel I have made an important contribution in paying forward the help given to me by those who have been helpful in freeing me from the shackles of PTSD from the abuse of my manic depressive schizophrenic father. I offer counsel to Dr. Titus McMillan, who is the new President of our university as he leads us in exciting directions for SJTEU. We are working with other faculty in further developing programs that will give students the tools they need to help those who are suffering. CoVid-19 has resulted in a huge increase in mental illness. We need people to step forward and help people as they suffer by hearing them and offering whatever help we can. In addition, I will be doing graduate teaching as a professor in subjects such as how Psychology and Spirituality are necessary in the healing of damaged emotions as well as delving into the themes of the writings of C.S. Lewis, and showing students how to write Biblical poetry in writing workshops. I am also teaching a unique course entitled "Human Disability as a Service to God." I will enhance these lectures by speaking of the journey I am on with physical and learning challenges. Personally, I don't like the word "disabled." It implies things we are not capable of. I prefer to focus on those things I can do.
