Established in 1864, Ash and Lacy manufactures systems and components for the automotive, aerospace and construction sectors. We create safe, durable, resilient metal solutions in a digitalised manufacturing environment, supported by test evidence, third-party accreditation and certification wherever possible. Weight/material and environmental impact minimisation are key objectives. We have recently introduced solar solutions to our roofing system offering, chemical photo-etching and pvd coating for decorative automotive components. Our building systems aim to be as “fossil-free” as possible and come third-party certified with supporting data, classification reports, O&M manuals etc required for Golden Thread compliance, all digitally hosted by a third-party for long-term confidence. We export around the world from multiple sites in Great Britain, offering laser cutting, section rolling, expanding, perforating, press-forming, fabrication, routering, injection moulding, powder/wet/pvd coating and assembly all in-house, as well as tooling and prototyping capabilities with 3, 5 axis/EDM machining. We also provide a range of internal systems from operable walls to internal wall and ceiling solutions. I’m a passionate advocate for safety and continue to push for higher standards within the construction industry. I don’t believe in persuasion and I believe in driving change in the way we build by determinedly developing products and systems that are sustainable, higher performance yet more cost effective. Our rapidly expanding automotive division is an accredited first-tier supplier to long-term customers such as Aston Martin, Jaguar/Land Rover, McLaren, Bentley, Lotus and BMW. We are an IATF 16949 and Rolls Royce aerospace certified supplier. Our speciality is lightweight, perforated and expanded metal parts, but we are keen to leverage our design and optimisation capabilities with our experience in pressed, composite and injection moulded components. I invented and licensed a revolutionary power semiconductor technology during my PhD in electronic engineering at Cambridge, that went on to sell over two billion devices. I’ve been an Entrepreneur of the Year finalist twice and I get excited about the commercialisation of new technologies. I’ve a wide range of engineering experience, having developed thin-film diamond mechanism parts for a Swiss watch manufacturer through to robotically-lasered external pressings for supercars.
