NIHR Academic Clinical Lecturer @ London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, U. of London

About

I am a neonatal subspecialty trainee and Clinical Assistant Professor at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, where I develop research aimed at improving the quality of care for newborns in low-resource neonatal units. Over a career spanning 17 years, I have worked across diverse clinical and research settings in low- and middle-income countries. I trained and worked as a Paediatrician in northern Nigeria and contributed to the design and implementation of vaccine studies and clinical trials, leading field research teams in complex environments at the Medical Research Council Unit The Gambia. As part of my fully-funded doctoral research at the University of Oxford, I evaluated the impact of a health workforce intervention on the quality of care vulnerable newborns receive in under-resourced neonatal units in Kenya. This research has been published in peer-reviewed journals including a Lancet journal and has gained attention in national news and headlines in Kenya. I have also consulted for international organisations, including USAID Momentum and offer academic consulting to prospective masters and PhD students seeking successful Master’s and PhD applications.
