Deneshea Phelps Owens

Deneshea Owens is a Partner, Chief Financial Officer, and Chief Compliance Officer at Awani Capital, with more than 20 years of private equity and financial leadership experience. She oversees the Firm’s finance and accounting, financial planning and analysis, risk management, tax, treasury, and regulatory compliance functions, supporting Awani’s institutional infrastructure and growth. Prior to joining Awani Capital, Owens spent much of her career at Arlington Capital Partners, a multi-billion-dollar private equity firm based in Washington, D.C., where she served as Executive Vice President of Finance and Administration and later as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Compliance Officer, leading firmwide financial operations, compliance, and governance. Earlier in her career, Owens worked as Controller at Interior Systems Inc. and in public accounting, providing audit, tax, and consulting services across the banking, government contracting, and nonprofit sectors. Owens holds a B.S. in Business Administration from Bowie State University and an M.B.A. from American University’s Kogod School of Business. She is a Certified Public Accountant in the state of Maryland.
