Douglas Odongo

I hold PhD and MSW in social work. My research focuses mainly on autism interventions and intellectual disabilities. I am interested in researching to improve the experiences of marginalized populations such as individuals with neurodevelopmental disabilities such as autism, down syndrome, and cerebral palsy. My research areas covers areas of neurodevelopmental disabilities, education, social work practice. Presently, I am researching on how the autonomy of young adults with autism can be supported at the employment setting to enable them experience employment outcomes such as job satisfaction and improved job performance. I hold a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in sociology, and a Bachelor's in social work. I have held Graduate Teaching and Research Assistantship positions since 2016. These positions have significantly shaped my teaching and research skills and experience through collaboration with inter- and multidisciplinary professionals across Africa and the United States. I have worked on grants totaling over $260,000. I have also been involved in active professional teaching and mentoring development programs which offer me the opportunity to invest in future generation of leaders to make global impact. I have harnessed research skills in qualitative, quantitative and mixed methods, and savvy in data analytical tools such as R,MAXQDA, and Nvivo, among others. I am still optimistic the we can make the world better!
