Worked with various departments within the Massachusetts Port Authority, providing duties as assigned. Through this process I learned about terminal operations, assisted yard superintendents and safety manager when required. Primary projects included updating the Boston Harbor Pilots Large Vessel Database to identify vessel types and numbers traveling within the Port of Boston, updated employee database for new employees for random Drug and Alcohol screenings, and the primary project I assisted with was the Port Electrical Meter Data Project. The objective of the Port Electrical Meter Data Project was to establish a base line cost for water and energy used within marine terminals, further utilizing the FREDs Tracking System, which tracked energy used and accompanying cost. In addition to the projects, I had the opportunity to sit in on new Longshoremen Safety and Tractor Training, and attended port safety meetings with representatives from all terminals, the Coast Guard, State Police Departments, Fire Department, and MASSPORT Police.
