Land Planner with extensive experience implementing shoreline and wetland management programs, as well as directing aquatic invasive species management programs. My independent research projects have implemented technical diving operations to study adverse water quality issues, including invasive species research and the removal of aquatic debris deemed harmful to marine life. Subsequently, I have completed extensive research into Washington State’s Aquatic Invasive Species educational, outreach and funding programs. This includes the devotion of three years to the Chehalis River Brazilian Elodea Project which involved the research, mapping and mitigation of aquatic invasive species within the Chehalis River Basin and surrounding tributaries. I have a passion for educating and nurturing positive change in our community based on the belief that scientists can play an imperative role in public policy. I believe this is possible through the communication of science into a policy dialogue focused on strategizing the placement of scientific value and data in to policy creation.
