Donald Vitharana

I am an electrical engineering professional with over 11 years of experience in power distribution, service operations, and project delivery, with experience in both Sri Lanka and New Zealand. I have worked extensively on large-scale electrical networks serving more than 35,000 consumers, with hands-on responsibility for HV/LV systems, transformers, fault response, and preventive maintenance. My experience includes maintaining reliable power supply, handling outages, and coordinating field operations in safety-critical environments. In my current role in New Zealand’s EV industry, I work with high-voltage systems, battery technologies, and inverter systems. I also use ERP platforms such as Eziparts and other inventory systems to support efficient day-to-day operations. Across my career, I have developed strong practical skills in fault finding, root cause analysis, and planned maintenance. I am comfortable working in both operational environments and project-based roles, with a strong focus on safety, reliability, and teamwork. I hold an Electrical Engineer Limited Licence with the Electrical Workers Registration Board and I am currently progressing my membership with Engineering New Zealand.
