Microsoft O365 User Experience – Near real-time telemetry, Geo-Map of user experience, Tenant experience reports, Network connectivity and End User Performance Analyzer DESIGNED AND MANAGED DEVELOPMENT OF USER EXPERIENCE TELEMETRY In Microsoft O365 service, the user experience round client latency was one of the key issues. At start of this effort, customer performance data was collected but was not actionable. It was being computed monthly (with 50% failure rate) and pivoted around deployments which did not represent real customer experience. My proposal was to create near-real time telemetry on customer latency as it happens across the globe. Proposal was also have data pivoted around user (like distance, network and client). It took a lot of convincing to change the status quo and make investment to build this system. I coordinated across 3 discreet development organizations to build this system. In 3-4 months, we had clear visibility into of client usage, performance. For the first time in years we were able to articulate the potential root causes for key performance issues. Cross organizational initiatives were kicked off with address these concerns. I was tasked with coordinating the network improvements. Also was actively involved in triangulating regions that needed new Microsoft O365 POPs.

Microsoft O365 Scale Improvements – Stress Testing, Production data pipeline and Scale Scorecard MANAGED MICROSOFT O365 SERVICE SCALE IMPROVEMENTS In Microsoft O365 service was involved in managing a complex cross-team scale improvement effort. The effort began when a new beta release had significant scale regressions (in CPU and Memory). Based on my analysis, we had a huge engineering org with no clear data points to assign accountabilities to specific teams to prioritize scalability improvements. I worked on a Scale Score Card using production data to track features regressions compared to an earlier release (with different architecture). Usage of real production data provided great leverage in influencing feature teams to prioritize scale improvement initiatives. Over a period of 4 months, the improvements resulted in cutting down server capacity requirement by 30%. Scale score card is now automated and used as a quality gate to detect and prevent scale regressions. It has cut down the time to find and fix scale issues from months to days and also prevents P1 regressions entering production.

Cisco Emergency Responder (5.5 years) – Provide E911 support for Cisco VoIP Phones Cisco Unified Communications Platform - Centralized Security Provider for the platform DEVELOPED MISSION CRITICAL ENTERPRISE PRODUCTS Cisco Emergency Responder is an enterprise product that complimented Cisco Unified Communications Manager by providing key E911 support. In V1, I started off fresh from college working on administration and license management aspects of the product. We successfully created a robust product on time which met all stringent guidelines form E911 solution and it worked great for small to medium enterprises. CER V1, had limited scale (support 30K ports) and was not ready for larger enterprises. In CER V2, I took on challenge of re-architecting and improving 75% of the components. I successfully implemented design changes like scaled out discovery modules instances, re-designed in-memory data cache layer of discovered network data for efficient retrieval. Critical component, that I created continue to provide accurate and quick mapping of IP Phone location when a user places 911 calls from Cisco IP Phone.
