Derek Westlund

Hi, I am Derek Westlund, CEO of Omni Cubed and Sparrow Product Development. Once a builder of models and forts, now a builder of products, teams, and businesses. My job in a nutshell: 1. Communicate the company’s mission, and why we exist. 2. Hire the right people (intelligent, communicative, and humble). 3. Get the right people in a room together to build and solve problems. 4. Build and maintain a strong company culture that prioritizes accountability, teamwork, personal development, and risk-taking. On the outside, my efforts are reflected in Omni Cubed’s position as an industry leader in creating cutting-edge tool solutions for talented craftsmen working in the stone, large format thin material (LFTM), and glass industries. At the heart of our success is a commitment to our customers. We listen to their needs, understand their challenges, and work tirelessly to develop products and services that exceed their expectations. On the inside, my work is revealed in high-functioning teams that excel in visualizing solutions to problems. We have cultivated a culture of forward-thinking individuals and teams that are in sync with the needs of our customers and given the tools and support they need to get the job done. I am passionate about building our people and companies into something that will make a lasting impact and help others. When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with my family and playing in the great outdoors. I love learning and listening to audiobooks. Food is pretty great too, both making it and eating it with friends and family.
