Calhoun County’s Road Commission and Boards of Public Works and Parks is an independent County governmental unit responsible for all transportation, parks, and public work functions for the County. The Managing Director reports to a three‑person Road Commission/Board of Public Works/Board of Park Trustees. As a freestanding agency, the Managing Director is responsible for all-financial, personnel, public relations, and operational and administrative functions. Calhoun County Community Development is a consolidated organization formed to provide Countywide community development services. As the only County organization of its kind in the State of Michigan, CCCD is doing groundbreaking work in using a unified approach for road, public works, planning, parks, and solid waste service delivery. The Managing Director's primary duties are to give general administrative and policy direction for all areas of the agencies responsibilities and supervise through an Assistant Managing Director and five Superintendents. The total service area is more than 700 square miles, and the County's population was 140,000. Total agency budget was approximately $12 million, with a full time staff of 70 professional, skilled and unskilled workers, 67 of which belong to labor unions. The Director of Public Works\Director of Parks while an employee of the Road Commission and Board of Public Works also provides direct support to Calhoun County general government and the Calhoun County Board of Supervisors. This work is done on a cost reimbursement basis.

Instructor in the Civil and Construction Engineering Department of the College of Engineering responsible for preparing and teaching undergraduate level classes in Reinforced Concrete Design, Structural Analysis, and Design, Soils and Materials, Codes and Regulations, and graduate level classes in Risk Analysis, and Construction and Project Management.

Facilitator (Instructor) for on-line classes including Algebra I, Algebra II, and Finite Elements.

Primary responsibilities of the Chief of Highway Operations are managing project development, short range planning, and programming for the road improvement program, supervising a large residential permit parking program, providing traffic engineering services for a 2400+ mile urban road system, and providing technical and administrative support for the Fairfax County Transportation Advisory Commission, Other major responsibilities are developing policies and priorities for the improvement and operation of the County's transportation system, coordinating transportation improvements with state, regional, and local agencies, analyzing and development funding programs to finance improvements, developing and managing in‑house and consultant staff, and developing management information systems including GIS.
