As the Benefits Representative, I processed new hire paperwork, performed data entry in HRIS and later Peoplesoft, helped with claims and eligility issues in the areas of workers compensation, leaves of absence, unemployment, health benefits and retirement. I expanded the new hire benefits orientation and helped manage open enrollment and the annual benefits fair. As an HR Generalist, I became the department expert on leave of absence, workers compesation and ADA and expanded my role to help develop policies and procedures in these areas, and to manage employee relations issues working with all levels of University management.

As a certified Group Fitness Instructor I am responsible for engaging my participants in high intensity cardio and sculpting workouts. It is my role to develop the workouts. I ensure all participants are educated on proper form and technique and I ensure that I correct any movements or positioning that can cause injury. It is my goal to make sure that the participants have fun, work hard, and stay safe. Most of my participants have been taking my classes for more than 5 years.

My pre-kindergarten class was comprised of 20-25 boys and girls ages 4 and 5. My co-teacher and I collaborated on all aspects of the curriculum for our students. Our classroom management involved group work to help the children develop communication skills as well as teaching them personal responsibility moving them toward autonomy. Our curriculum and activities were designed to engage the children cognitively, creatively and socially. In addition, our activities developed both fine and gross motor skills as well as basic academics such as numbers and letters. We utilized theme weeks in order to tie together learning, skill building and creative expression.

My major is Educational Studies which includes the cognitive, social, physical and emotional development of children and teenagers. The program also focuses on learning behaviors and styles, and teaching and communication styles. Areas studied include children birth to age 19, children from multicultural or diverse backgrounds, children with special needs including those needing an IEP, working with families, working with the community and legislative issues.
