Dean Nevins

I represent the interests of the residents of District 1 and provide overall direction and oversight in the operation of the Goleta Sanitary District as a member of the Board of Directors. I am also a liaison with the Goleta West Sanitary District who utilizes our plant.

Until I retired I was the Chief Information Systems Officer (CISO) at SBCC who reported directly to the President. I was responsible for all of the Information Technology infrastructure at SBCC including user services, user support, telecommunications, security, network infrastructure, our enterprise resource planning system (Ellucian Banner), and the myriad of applications that connect to it. It was my honor to lead the team of IT professionals at SBCC.

Reporting to the President, I was the Interim Chief Information Systems Officer (CISO) at SBCC. I am responsible for all of the Information Technology infrastructure at SBCC including user services, user support, telecommunications, security, network infrastructure, our enterprise resource planning system (Ellucian Banner), and the myriad of applications that connect to it. I lead the team of IT professionals at SBCC.

I lead a team responsible for running all of the College's main computing resources including the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, Ellucian Banner. If a system is key to the functioning of the College my team keeps it running and leverages it to improve the College's ability to help our students realize their educational goals.

I support the Health and Human Services Division which encompasses all of our Nursing programs, the School of Justice Studies, Radiography and Diagnostic Imaging, Alcohol and Drug Counseling, Early Childhood Education, Education, the Parent Child Workshops, and Allied Health. Additionally I support the Physical Education Division and I serve on numerous committees.

I provide continuity and advice to the President of the Academic Senate as well as serving on the College Planning Council and the Academic Senate Steering Committee.

This is an elected position where I represented the faculty of Santa Barbara City College in academic and professional matters. The Academic Senate President is responsible for setting the Senate agenda (in consultation with the steering committee) and working with the SBCC Foundation as well as the Superintendent/President and the Board of Trustees.

Heavy lifting on the iOS app with Swift and all around technical brain.

I performed research and development on image processing. I was one of the primary developers (both hardware and software) of "System-G" a real time image modification system.

Digital hardware engineer and embedded systems software engineer. Responsible for STD bus board hardware design and support firmware.

Research interest and focus was on Computational Geochemistry using molecular dynamics techniques.
