Led our nimble team to pioneer the next generation of "Physical AI" robot hardware that autonomously unloads floor-loaded trucks and trailers at warehouses and distribution centers for North America’s most respected brands. The design of the hardware automation system aims to make the user experience ruthlessly-simple, while working safer, faster, and more efficiently, addressing labor shortages and high employee turnover in logistics roles. I developed a branded hardware design language, setting new industry benchmarks for throughput performance, part-simplicity, and human factors. Collaborated closely with leadership and top-tier mechanical and electrical engineers to define product archetypes. Designed, fabricated and tested various autonomous robotic systems. Prioritized a tightly coupled software-hardware development process to optimize system performance that exceeded customer expectations.

Led the Industrial design and development of PassiveLogic's Hive Autonomous Platform, the first fully autonomous Building Management System. Our team has leveraged custom physics-based AI digital twin models to enable autonomous control, as measured by securing PassiveLogic's position in the infrastructural robotics market by innovating ‘physical AI’ applications for building systems. Created the industrial and mechanical engineering of the PassiveLogic hardware family, including computers, controllers, and sensors. Achieved global award recognitions for minimalist design language; iF DESIGN AWARD 2024, Red Dot Winner 2024, Artificial Intelligence Breakthrough Award 2024. Our team at Epic Aircraft, FAA-type-certified the E-1000 November 2019. This all composite, best-in-class, high performance, single engine turboprop aircraft known for its impressive speed and economical range. My focus was developing the flight-deck, luxury interior, crew and cabin seat packages according to SAE J1100 and CFRs. With a strong emphasis on human factors for critical flight controls, we simplified layouts and reduced pilot workload. Material selection and process are crucial in managing the interior weight of an aircraft. I coupled leather-wrapped Carbon Fiber composite honeycomb panels with a pioneered process to cast high temperature, fire-resistant, fiber-reinforced urethane. The result is world-class, automotive-like luxury at a fraction of the cost, weight, and investment. At the leading edge of Additive Manufacturing, we developed FAA-certified parts with industry leader Stratasys. Leveraging my knowledge of advanced LEDs to design ‘cockpit task’ and ambient accent lighting to enhance usability for day and night operations. Placards and Documents: Responsible for the design, vendor selection, fabrication and installations of over 110 FAA-approved parts including, AROW - Airworthiness Certificate, Registration Certificate, Operating Limitations, and Weight and Balance, plus the Quick Reference Handbook (QRH), Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and Aircraft Safety Card (ASC). Managed CMF, Color, Materials & Finish, and manufacturing processes to offer customers multiple color-ways.

Recruited to open an industrial design office to develop and manufacture luxurious, large-format architectural Ad panels for the built environment. My team developed a new business segment of ultra-thin LED back-lit advertising kiosks. Designed exclusively for Simon Property Group, owner of 325 malls nationwide, my team increased annual sales by over 20%. Bright Automotive was recognized as one of the top electric automobile startups. The groundwork of Bright Automotive was developed while working at Johnson Controls; my vision was to combine our three corporate divisions: Energy Solutions (Batteries), Building Efficiency (Smart Grid and Buildings), and Automotive Interiors. I collaborated with the Rocky Mountain Institute’s Chief Scientist, Amory Lovins, to drive a business strategy to promote Electric Vehicle innovation. 2007, we created a consortium with JCI, Google, Alcoa, Duke Energy, and the Ted Turner Foundation. We contracted Tim Brown's design office, IDEO, to host a workshop that laid the foundation of an EV manufacturing company. We aimed our sites at flipping the low-performing (10 MPG) Light Commercial Vehicle market with a 98 MPGe Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle. I lead 35 creative and engineering staff as the VP of Design, managing interior, exterior, and aerodynamics. We developed and field-tested five fully functional electric vehicles for government customers, DOD, DOE, and USPS, while creating over 80 green tech jobs. Our funding included VC, Google (.org), General Motors Ventures, Advanced Technology Vehicles Manufacturing (ATVM), the Department of Energy's low-interest loan program, created to support advanced development technology, and Green Vehicle Manufacturing. • Co-founder, Created over 80 green tech jobs • Developed five vehicles – exteriors, aerodynamics, interiors, & marketing assets • Partnered with General Motors, Google, RMI, Alcoa, Johnson Controls Inc., Turner Foundation and IDEO • Managed 3 direct creative reports and maintained 80% of labor budget through the supplier network • 50,000 /yr production, 98 MPGe fuel economy, saving each vehicle an estimated EPA,$23,140 in fuel costs over five years • Developed NPD & Manufacturing process, Aerodynamic validation, and Leading 3D prototype lab.

Principal Industrial Designer, Sustainability leadership
Our team pioneered one of the world's largest global industrial design offices. I program-managed and designed products for Chrysler Corporation for interior trim, lighting, and advanced electronics. I was presented with the opportunity in 2000 to establish the North American office for Instrument Clusters, Electronics, and UX/UI, which required the addition of many new disciplines to the team, including a Ph.D. Human Factors staff, Interaction designers, Electrical Engineers, and Customer Experience experts. We pioneered LEDs, Vanity lighting, interactive displays, touch screens, DVDs, and Voice-controlled devices. In 2004, I co-founded the Advanced Seating Design Consortium with our marketing team. The consortium included the like minded companies; Johnson Controls (Automotive), Steel Case (Contract Furniture), and BE Aerospace (Aircraft). We shared advanced initiatives, materials & processes, and future business ideas. We had over 150 design staff in 6 offices, globally in 2005. Industrial Designer | Advanced Composites Structural Engineer
While attending Art Center, I interned at AeroVironment to develop a 65 million-year-old Pterodactyl flying replica, successfully flown as the IMAX ‘robotic-movie star’, On the Wing. I worked under Dr. Paul MacCready, named Engineer of the Century by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. My role focused on the rapid 3D development of lightweight composite structures, aerodynamics, flight controls, and Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) flight testing. I served as AeroVironment's design liaison to General Motors, Advanced Concept Center (ACC). I co-designed the GM EV1, General Motors' first commercial Electric Vehicle, and the GM Sunraycer, designed to compete in the world's first race featuring solar-powered cars. The Sunraycer, a collaboration between General Motors, AeroVironment, and Hughes Aircraft, won the race by a considerable margin of six days. I adapted Leonardo da Vinci's sketches for a flying machine into a glider for the Bruce Willis film Hudson Hawk. As the chief pilot, flying on location in Italy. I completed all flight requirements, which reduced expensive CG, post-production costs.
