Responsible for the evolving EMEA business unit by leveraging Ciena's technology and operational leadership. Directly accountable for integrating the Sale Engineering and Product groups into an organisation focused on delivering business architectures for our customers, whilst supporting the success of our partner organisations. Accountable for EMEA Strategy & Product initiatives around SDN & NFV, Cloud to Enterprise connectivity, and evolution in the OTT/Media and Content market.

Responsible for defining and implementing the Eunetworks long term strategy , technology roadmap, and implementation plans to maximise the potential of euNetworks underlying assets. This included the creation of a holistic network architecture, platform assessments, vendor selection, IT development, and introduction of a common operating methodology.

Focussed on integration and alignment of the Architecture, Engineering and Network Deployment teams to enable greater end to end accountability. Drive the solution for true end to end design and build process to minimise network service activation, whilst optimising for resource, cash and revenue opportunities

Responsibility for the delivery of all technology led solutions across the Infrastructure, Transport, IP and Voice domains. Delivered core network unit cost compression of 25% year on year whilst doubling the capacity of the European network every 18 months. Redefined A&E operating model to optimise business reporting and realign resources, whilst creating a framework that enabled the European business unit to introduce key new products such as native IPV6, and maximise embedded capital.

Led the ongoing growth in the Level3 IP network, both for IP Transit and L2/3 MPLS VPN services Integrated the acquired Content business of Savvis into the European network and operating model, launching CDN services across 7 markets and migrating services in less than 6 months .

Successfully drove design and architecture for the roll-out of 5 new European IP Gateways, managing cost, maintenance, operation and support within our financial constraints.

Accountable for the design, implemented of Usenet news server cluster capable of supporting >200,000 users, as well as a mail server architecture for > 500,000 users, and multiple DNS & web services for 5 wholesale dial platforms.

Working within a start up environment I worked on the development of multiple wholesale ISP's. Included hands on experience of building the infrastructure of an ISP e.g. mail, modems, DNS, radius As we grew the business I focused on supporting direct customer experience, building a 150+ Technical call centre for Internet dial residential users across 3 main wholesale brands in just 18 months
