David Rech

David Alan Rech is President and CEO of Scribe Inc., a successful publisher services company that employs over 40 professionals in Philadelphia, Allentown, Pennsylvania and Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. He founded Scribe in 1993, with an initial staff of just two employees. Under Rech's leadership, the company has become a premier provider of workflow solutions and services to national and international publishers, including top university presses, major Bible producers, and well-known trade imprints. At Scribe and across publishing, Rech has turned the technical requirements of XML, once only of interest to computer professionals, into a fully articulated publishing philosophy. Well-formed document, Rech’s insight, is now a ubiquitous term that is synonymous with the craft of producing high-quality books in any form--now and in the future. Rech is the inventor of Scribe's chief methodological asset, the Well-Formed Document Workflow (WFDW), and continues to lead its development with his hands-on approach. His technical expertise in digital publishing, broad knowledge of human factors in computer use, and strong vision for the future of the book have made both Rech and Scribe in-demand resources in the publishing world. Over 10,000 books a year are produced using the WFDW system, including many best sellers. In addition to his publishing activities Rech teaches courses at The College of New Jersey, has been an active in his local community, and enjoys boating and traveling with his wife, Lori.
