Responsibilities include conducting individual patient assessments and developing treatment plans through evidence-based practice. As a clinician and therapist, I create, plan, facilitate, evaluate and document therapeutic activities and patient education groups for adults with mental illnesses in conjunction with their treatment plans and goals. Additional duties include participating in patient treatment staffing reviews, assisting with crisis intervention and serving as a preceptor for new employee orientation. My day to day duties include all aspects of providing high quality direct patient care including but not limited to: 1. Maintaining a safe and structured therapeutic environment to include patient observation rounds in accordance to hospital standards, policies and procedures. 2. Providing analysis and feedback on patient progress towards treatment goals and improvement of their quality of life. This includes completing and maintaining all assigned state and federal mandated documents and records. 3. Establishing and maintaining therapeutic rapport with patients. 4. Educating patients on how to effectively communicate both in and out of the hospital, such as choosing safe and healthy leisure and coping alternatives for high stress situations. 5. Helping patients understand the meaning of their diagnosis and how it relates to their life. 6. Participating in inservice meetings and training sessions including CPR and CPI certifications. 7. Attendance and active engagement in conferences (state, midwest and national) to stay up to date on the latest trends and issues in the Recreation Therapy profession.

Responsible for providing community trips and in-house recreation on a one-to-one basis for six adults with disabilities. Duties include designing and implementing treatment plans, documentation and making arrangements for trips. Designed a resource guide for recreation outings.

Served as assistant director for drama performances and assistant track and field coach for Special Olympics. Duties include coordinating lesson plans, instructing recreation and planning special events for persons with disabilities.

Responsible for planning, implementing and evaluating therapy groups and one-to-one intervention for over fifty residents. Duties include documentation for each resident, participation in care plan meetings and training new staff.

Responsible for organizing community reintegration trips for spinal cord injury patients. Conducted assessments and generated detailed progress notes for patients. Duties included planning special events, creative arts programs and a patient case study in the hospital's extended care center.
