Open Purchase requisition review, discuss open requisitions with suppliers, look at volumes over a certain period, agree price and lead-time and bring this information back & update MRP system with price and lead-time and ensure Material Controllers place any supply agreements or POs in a timely manner. OTiF and reject rate review – address poor performance and establish a plan to improve going forward. Track any open actions, issues with those suppliers and ensure that timely closure is achieved. Track rejects, ensure that rejects are sent back to suppliers in a timely manner, log them and ensure they are accepted by the suppliers and if so credit note(s) are is issued. Temporary post following redundancy from Darchem Engineering. I was initially on a 3 month placement at Pennant Training Systems as Project Engineer, which was then extended by a further 3 months as Production Manager. This role led to a permament post within Pennant Training Systems in March 2001

Darchem Engineering

Purchasing and Inventory Controller

Darchem Engineering

1990 - 2000 · 10 yrs

I originally joined the company in 1980 while trading under the name of Insumat Ltd - Gloucester as a member of the stock control team, as Production Clerk and progressed through the ranks with promotions to position of Stock Control Section Leader before leaving the company for a short while in 1989 to 1990, working for Insight Vision Systems Ltd of Malvern. I returned to the company under its new name of Darchem in March 1990, promoted to Material (Purchasing) Controller in 1991, Purchasing and Inventory Controller in 1995, in 1998 I took control of our Gloucester and Stillington site in Cleveland. Darchem produce high precision, engineered, stainless steel insulation systems for the Aerospace industry to quality procedure ISO 9001 levels, alongside Formula 1 rally motor sport vehicles. During the last eight years the company has passed through a period of re-organisation and change. Managing the change has proven to be a challenging and rewarding experience. Tasked with the transference of materials from our Bedfordshire site which became redundant, to Gloucestershire, a great deal of my time was spent ensuring all outstanding orders relating to the Bedford site had full material coverage for their completion. Drawing on this experience, I successfully set up a Purchasing and stores system for the Insulation Division at our Stillington site in Cleveland, reducing the stock levels, completing the operation within the deadline. During this period, through organising and planning work tasks, I was able to carry out my responsibilities in Gloucester, setting up long term deals with our suppliers for both sites. I established KanBan levels to ensure bulk issue at centralised locations on the shop floor, maintaining lead times and keeping track of supplies on the floor. Continuing to develop supplier relationships, organising annual stock takes, supervising four stores staff, reporting to the Operations Manager and communicating with internal departments.
