About
I've built and scaled complex, open-ended mechanical, automated and robotic systems at Amazon from Hardware Engineering, Systems Engineering, and Technical Project Manager roles. If you're a hardware start-up in the sustainability space (important), reach out! At Amazon I was a lead engineer designing the next generation of automated logistics solutions. I've designed everything under the (warehouse) roof from manual workstations and robotic work cells to novel warehouse solution architectures solving complex sorting, inventory, packaging, last mile challenges and more. I specialize in all aspects of warehouse automation including AMRs, multi-threaded robotics (think Kiva), conveyor sortation, packaging machinery, robotic work cell design (including end effectors) and much more. Working typically on early stage projects, I've had the opportunity to take products and systems from sketch to reality, securing many patents along the way. Further, I've deployed novel systems and worked through the challenges of turning a prototype into a product that operations can rely on. Outside of work, I enjoy getting my hands dirty and keeping my mechanical engineering skills sharp by designing, fabricating and testing on my own rally car (ARA competitor #802). Motorsport provides a unique, harsh environment unlike logistics as an excuse to exercise a different part of my skillset.

Hardware Systems Consultant
● Managing the execution of a complex plasma tunneling test and development platform and providing verification and application engineering. ● Defined first-order requirements, use cases and operating parameters to surface primary system tradeoffs. ● Consulted on and designed MVP plasma trenching systems for heavy-duty equipment retrofits including hardware layout, umbilical protection and plasma tip survival using refractory materials. ● Conducted technical and behavioral interviews of hardware engineers and managers leading to a key hire.

Sr. Automation Engineer - PrimeAir
Seattle, Washington, United States
PrimeAir’s mission is to deliver packages to customers within 30 minutes from click to delivery. ● Created and patented a system of operation leveraging robotic technology to rapidly turnaround drones between missions, analyze aircraft parameters and offer a scalable solution to keep associates safe. ● Led all hardware aspects of designing, procuring, assembling and testing a ‘proof-of-concept’ robotic work cell to demonstrate robotic grasping, measurement and placement of PrimeAir drones. ● Designed and tested a robotic end effector to grasp, measure and place the PrimeAir drone using a 6-DOF Force/Torque sensor to monitor the forces and torques enacted on the drone to ensure structural integrity. ● Estimated 90% reduction in time to measure physical attributes such as Weight, Center of Gravity and Moment of inertia while providing a more consistent platform over manual testing.

Hardware Engineer III - Packaging Automation

Specializing in the rapid design, analysis & development of robotics and automation technologies for fulfilling Amazon orders. ● Lead engineer responsible for all aspects of implementing complex mechatronic automation technologies into the existing Amazon fulfillment network to reduce labor costs and increase total building output. ● Responsible for all product categories including feature development roadmap (hardware, controls and software), process design, WMS/system integration, training material, financial analysis, safety compliance etc. ● Perform FMEA to expose and root cause gaps in process efficiency & machine uptime to increase OEE. ● Directed international vendor relationship for design & development of mechatronic packaging solution.
