Transcoding Platform (2015-2016) Deployed and Maintained AWS clusters running Ruby code used to manage content transcoding and ingestion workflows. Managed teams of contractors to implement support for media transcoding and content delivery using Azure Media services. Utilized Azure REST API to manage Azure transcoding jobs and to scale Azure media service encoders to current demand. Provided oncall support for transcoding platform Ingestion Platform (2016-2017) Refactored workflows used to ingest media files and associated metadata into S3. Utilized Cassandra to maintain workflow state and provide end users with detailed progress logs and error information. Designed and implemented support for multiple customer ingestion modes including FTP, Aspera and MRSS feeds. Implemented support for parsing of XML and CSV metadata formats and for ingesting companion media files such as closed caption and thumbnail image files. Provided on call support of ingestion platform to troubleshoot and resolve any customer ingestion issues. Web Playback platform (2017-2018) Worked on Javascript based frontend video player. Implemented advanced data collection of video related events for player performance analysis. Reported metrics to Hadoop backend for processing and surfacing to the end customer. Implemented support for HEVC codec playback on natively supported platforms. Managed team of developers to implement server side ad insertion support for both video on demand and live streamed events. Extended UI functionality using React.js. Worked on live video streaming platform development. Integrated logging of backend workflow engine with third party log aggregation services and constructed dashboards to search and analyze logs. Implemented RESTful API to allow dynamic log level changes. Implemented monitoring dashboards with third party service to visualize program metrics such as latency and error rates. Improved Python scripts used to collect workflow engine metrics to improve efficiency. Implemented authentication services for login page of workflow engine in Java. Developed backend API in Golang.

Researched multiple topics related to biomedical computing and health informatics. Developed programs for simulating and optimizing radiation therapy for cancer treatments. Applied parallel programming with GPUs to optimize performance of software for developing radiation treatment plans. Developed mobile (Android) and web (Javascript) applications for finding medical providers and for comparing hospital procedure costs and hospital quality. Published and presented these results at multiple conferences including IRI-HI (2013) and PETRA (2013).

Researched the application of the random forest machine learning algorithm to the automated detection of lymph nodes in medical image volumes. Developed a software implementation that utilized random forests to quickly label lymph node voxels in medical volumes and evaluated the accuracy of the results. Presented the findings of research in a poster presentation session.

Graded student programming and written assignments and provided assistance to students in understanding the course material when needed. Provided teaching support in multiple courses which included advanced computer science topics such as bioinformatics, automata theory, and computational logic.

Worked as part of the CHAMPS program, an NSF funded teaching program. Taught middle school students computer science techniques and principles as part of an after school program in Plano ISD using Alice, a programming environment designed to introduce young students to programming through video game design.
