Director, Engineering @ Veeva Systems
About
I have had natural inclination towards computers and programming since I discovered BASIC back in the day. I followed the "do what makes you happy" path from there, learned about programming languages and pursued Computer Engineering degrees. Since then I have worked with various companies, building software and systems with various technologies. I am thrilled to be a technologist in this day and age of exponential growth. Right now I am working with Veeva Systems, helping build the industry cloud for the life sciences industry. We are growing fast and I am looking to expand my team. Director, Engineering
Lewis Center, Ohio, United States
At Veeva Systems I am part of the CRM product line. I am forming and will lead the CRM Platform Team. The primary technologies involved here are Java, Spring, AWS, Docker, Kubernetes. These are early days and I am riding the learning curve.

Senior Manager, Software Engineering
Columbus, Ohio Area
I was part of McGraw Hill Education's engineering team since October 2011 when I joined the team as a Consultant (through Fusion Alliance) and then later converted to Full Time Employee. While at McGraw Hill I helped build the ConnectED and the OpenLearning platforms that served various K-12 products. Later I led and managed the Enterprise Infrastructure Services team that built the cross cutting services like Data Backbone (based on Kafka), Service Discovery (based on Consul), Feature Toggles and Communications API. Among the highlights of my work here was building one of our first secure, scalable end to end microservice. This featured an angular.js (yes, version 1.x) UI component that can be embedded in any UI, a SpringBoot based microservice, deployed in AWS (EC2, DynamoDB), ZDT deployed. I also led the development of several UI only tools (like number line, dice etc) that are used in K-5 education. At McGraw Hill I also led one of our most complex integration and migration projects during a busy back to school season. At MH, I learned a lot about successfully managing and leading teams when I am not a hands on contributor to code and architecture.

Director, Applications and Architecture (Java, Open Source)
Columbus, Ohio Area
I joined Quick Solutions that was later known as Fusion Alliance. I worked as a consultant with various different companies around Columbus OH region. Internally, within the organization, I also led the Java Competency. In this role I supported our recruiting team hire talented engineers and supported our sales team with responses to RFP's, POC preparation and winning projects. Among the highlights of my work here was community involvement. Within the company I was fortunate to be part of some truly amazing speakers and organizers of events within the community. Following their lead I attended various user groups and conferences in the region and I also presented at several such events. I gained confidence in preparing presentations and public speaking. Roles: Polyglot Developer, Project Engineer, Agile Technical Coach @McGraw Hill Education @Nationwide Insurance @Affinion Group @Wendys Arbys Group @OpenOnline @IQ Innovations @Online Computer Library Center

Specialist, IT Applications
Columbus Ohio
I joined Nationwide insurance as a Specialist, IT Applications Development. I started my work with the a document and workflow management system. My experience with J2EE application development and Filenet was a common thread between Covansys and joining Nationwide. In further years Nationwide built the new Application Development Center (ADC) and I happened to work on one of the first projects executed in ADC. This was the "Zoom" system where I built systems that integrate with Call Center Technology and IVR. Among the highlights of my work at Nationwide was learning and adopting the Spring framework. Spring version 2.0 was released in October 2006 and it made some waves. I was one of the early adopters of Spring 2.0, Dependency Injection, Aspect oriented programming, Spring MVC and related technologies. This led me towards learning more about Design Patterns, Enterprise Architecture and gaining more maturity in building quality, large scale systems. "Design Patterns" was one of my favorite books during these days.

Senior Consultant
Columbus, Ohio Area
This was my first job of my career. I was part of a team building a product for City and State Retirement Systems. The project - jClarety - was built with Java, some dose of EJB, Struts, Servlets, JSP and related technologies. My primary focus was to develop features into the product for the City of Milwaukee Employee Retirement System and deploy this system for use in Production. I started as a Developer on this project, learning the tricks of the trade and enjoying the thrill of the first job. One of the highlights of my work with Covansys was learning about Filenet, a product used for document management and workflows. Coming from academic life this was my first exposure to an enterprise product and integrating it within a product. As I gained more knowledge of the technology, intricacies of the product and how we do business I grew into various roles. By the end of my time at Covansys I had played roles of Tech Lead, Business Analyst and SME for the Health Care aspect of retirement systems. I also consulted (as needed) with various other teams in Covansys that were performing similar activity for other retirement systems.
