Virtualization systems administrator for VMware vSphere 5/6 server workloads, and VMware Horizon View (VDI). I am responsible for 4 virtual data centers which host over 1000+ virtual machines. I lead a hyper-converged initiative to replace our cluster’s legacy hardware with 10gb Cisco Nexus switches, and two Nutanix chassis. Since then our infrastructure has scaled from 7 to 34 nodes. I was a member of a team to implemented an enterprise backup solution for production, dev, and test workloads with Veeam Availability Suite 9.5. I also designed and implemented UCR’s VMware Horizon View deployment from proof of concept to production which enables students to access applications such as; Mathematica, SAS, SPSS, JMP, ArcGIS from around the world. I also helped create a linux distribution standard for Ubuntu and RedHat Enterprise Linux; which enabled us to manage our environment more efficiently with puppet. I then implemented RHEL Virtual Datacenter Licensing on ESXi, which enabled us to deploy licensed RHEL servers in an automated fashion.

I was lead administrator of the data center’s primary XIV SAN, IBM BladeCenter for VDI & IBM 3850’s for virtualization with vSphere 4/5. My core duties consisted of research and development, support systems and services to aid in efficiency and productivity of the organization as a whole. I virtualized bare-metal systems with VMware Convertor for use in our vSphere infrastructure. I lead an upgrade initiative for new compute hardware, along with an upgrade and migration of vSphere 4.1 to 5.1 along with a storage migration to an IBM XIV Gen 2 SAN with 100% uptime of systems. A total of 40TB of data were migrated live without any issues. I enjoyed working at CSUSB which was supportive of new ideas and emerging technology to advance the technological mission of the campus.
