From HVAC engineer to IoT startup entrepreneur, to leading Grade A FM service provider, to AI builder for building AI-powered optimization software, and now leading engineering at one of the world's top attractions. Three decades, and I have sat at every side of the table. I started at Thermal Pte Ltd, eventually as General Manager — leading one of Singapore's largest local air-conditioning companies. We rode through the country's economic cycles: cleanrooms in the semiconductor era, laboratories as pharma invested, hospitals as healthcare demands grew, then chiller-plant performance contracts as Greenmark took off. After nineteen years, I moved into IoT as Chief Operating Officer of Green Koncepts, a Singapore energy-management startup. We replaced traditional BMS SCADA displays with clean dashboards and released entrapped building data onto an interoperable platform. Stakeholders could now view and analyze their building performance, and take steps to improve energy efficiency and reduce equipment downtime. I drove the growth of our footprints with projects in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and China. In 2017 I rejoined Jardine Engineering as Managing Director, Singapore. Singapore's Industry Transformation Roadmap had just launched, and I led the turnaround — doubling revenue, growing the team to 450, and building JECS into a leading FM provider in the Grade A commercial office space (>30% market share). I also championed the adoption of BIM and DfMA in our construction business and positioned JECS as a leading ACMV contractor.In 2023 I joined Envision Digital (renamed Univers in September 2023) as Director, Centre of Excellence for Smart Building, leading a team of data scientists/engineers on the EnOS™ AIoT platform. We built machine-learning models that learn how a building actually runs, deploying predictive models that helps building owners continuously optimise their chiller plants and airside equipment, alongside predictive-maintenance models that flag equipment faults before they surface. AI-powered HVAC optimization projects spanned MRT stations, airports, seaports, checkpoints, retail, offices.Since October 2024 I've been Senior Director (Engineering) at Gardens by the Bay. Now on the service buyer's side, I am bringing every previous chapter to bear on driving sustainability, advanced engineering and FM best practice at one of the world's most distinctive attractions.
