About
I am a medical doctor (MD) with a Master of Science (MSc) in Epidemiology, currently training as a resident physician in Internal Medicine at St. Barnabas Hospital in the Bronx, NY, USA. I graduated with honors from Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos (MD, 2017) and from Universidad Cayetano Heredia (MSc, 2019), ranking seventh and first in my class, respectively.During medical school, I gained experience in both public and private health centers in Lima, Peru, completed a one-month clinical elective in Portugal, and spent my intern year working in inpatient care at a public hospital. After graduation, I spent a year as a primary care doctor in a rural area, 2.5 years in an emergency room, and a month in outpatient care. I then completed 5.5 months of clinical rotations across four U.S. states (NJ, NY, AZ, and FL). Currently, as an internal medicine resident, I manage patients in the medical floors, outpatient clinic, and ICU. I enjoy performing procedures (blood draws, ABGs, US-guided IV lines, POCUS), teaching, working on research, and playing soccer with my co-residents. I am an aspiring Cardiologist. My background in research and teaching includes a master’s degree in Epidemiology, 18 peer-reviewed papers (17 PubMed-indexed, 7 as first author, 3 as second author) with over 160 citations, training as a research fellow at the CRONICAS Center for Chronic Diseases, and teaching Biostatistics in a master's program for four years. I have also reviewed over 15 manuscripts for high-impact journals. My research focuses on cardiovascular diseases, with expertise in diverse study designs (protocols, case reports, cohort studies, and meta-analysis) and advanced statistical analyses (multiple regression, complex sampling). I’ve also written NIH-funded research proposals. Fluent in Spanish (native), English, and Portuguese, and I love playing soccer and traveling
