Software design: - Creation of a program in Python language to control a GPS/GSM vehicle tracker. - Comunicating with the GPS device (Telit GE-863GPS and GE-864GPS) through AT commands and manipulation of the device's data and its configuration. - Upgrading this tracker to GE-864GPS, redesigning the project to include a PIC16F616 micro-controller (programmed in C) in order to control certain features of the tracker. Hardware design: - Redesigning the tracker to be more compact and to have internal GPS and GSM antennae, and to include the mentioned PIC16F616. This included a complete hardware redesign in Protel and RF design due to the use of a surface mount GSM antenna. - 555 timer board to activate a solenoid and a buzzer after a certain amount of time, to remember the user to switch it off. This project included hardware design, prototype PCB etching and circuit testing. - Redesigning LED boards for beer pumps for an ale producer. This included hardware design, two prototypes of each and circuit testing.
